Abstract:

The HyperCP experiment (FNAL E871) was designed to search for CP violation in hyperon decays. We study the distribution of the proton from the decay sequence , , and of the anti-proton from the charge-conjugate decays. Any measured asymmetry between the distributions would result from direct CP violation in the decays. We report on an analysis of a fraction of the data yielding a precision of an order of magnitude better than the present limit.
