Title:

Abstract: The Ultimate Neutrino Detector

The Liquid Argon Time Projection Chamber has a long and convoluted history. The latest episode involves construction and successful operation of a 300-ton module by the ICARUS collaboration. We will examine the technical challenges posed by construction of very large scale detectors, in tens of kilotons range, and we will argue that such detectors are relatively simple to construct. The Liquid argon TPC constitutes a nearly ideal detector for electron neutrinos, and we will examine its physics potential in the existing NuMI neutrino beam.
