Title: T2K: Beaming Neutrinos from Tokai to Kamioka

Abstract:

The Tokai-2-Kamioka (T2K) project, which started collecting data at the end of 2009, aims to make precision measurements of neutrino oscillations. Using a muon neutrino beam that originates at the new J-PARC accelerator complex and travels 295 km under Japan, T2K will search for the disappearance of muon neutrinos and the appearance of electron neutrinos. This talk will outline the physics goals of T2K, and describe the beamline and detectors. It will conclude with the status and future plans for the experiment.
