Abstract:
Understanding the mechanism of the electroweak symmetry breaking presents one of the most important open questions, and therefore highest priorities, in Particle Physics today. In the Standard Model, as well as in the Supersymmetric extensions of the model, the unification of the weak with the electromagnetic force is achieved via the Higgs mechanism. The signature particle(s) of the mechanism, the Higgs boson(s), have not yet been observed experimentally. The search is currently being pursued at the Tevatron proton-antiproton Collider, the world's highest-energy particle accelerator. The latest results of the Higgs search using Tevatron data collected with the D0 detector will be presented and the future prospects will be discussed.
