Abstract:
The Standard Model of particle physics is a well established theory of the fundamental matter and forces. However shortcomings, such as the origin of mass and the fermion mass hierarchy, remain as deep mysteries requiring new ideas beyond the standard model. I will review novel attempts to address these problems by formulating the standard model in a warped extra dimension. Remarkably these theories have a strongly-coupled four-dimensional dual interpretation and lead to striking predictions at the LHC.
