Abstract:
A precise measurement of the W boson mass is an important test of the standard model and, when combined with the top mass, can constrain the mass of the Higgs boson and new physics. I will present recent progress in the the W mass measurement at the D0 experiment. The analysis uses the electron decay channel with 1/fb of data collected during Run II of the Tevatron at Fermilab. I will describe the calibration of the electromagnetic calorimeter and discuss the experimental and theoretical systematic uncertainties that limit the measurement's precision.
