Title: Measuring with the Daya Bay Nuclear Power Reactors

Abstract:

We propose to measure at the Daya Bay nuclear power reactors in China, located 70 km from Hong Kong. The power plant has a total of 18 GW thermal power, the 10th largest in the world, and there are mountains near by, making it easier to build an undergound lab to shield cosmic-ray-induced backgrounds. The detector design with Monte Carlo simulations and baseline optimization will be discussed, together with general considerations of systematic errors of reactor neutrino experiments.
