Title: Latest Results from the CMS Experiment and their Context

Abstract:

Detector commissioning, selected measurements of key standard model processes involving jets, photons, quarkonia, beauty, W, Z and top, and searches for the Higgs and physics beyond the standard model from the 2010 and 2011 LHC runs will be presented. The interplay between the LHC results and the intensity and cosmic frontiers of particle physics will be discussed. The success of the early LHC physics program is the result of a globally distributed scientific effort of unprecedented scale, suggesting a new paradigm in scientific collaboration; the efficacy of a remote regional center, the LHC Physics Center at FNAL, will be evaluated.
