SLAC E158: A Precision Measurement of the Weak Mixing Angle in Moller
Scattering.

Abstract: A newly approved SLAC fixed target experiment will be
described, in which we plan to measure the parity violating
left-right asymmetry in the scattering off longitudinally polarized
electrons from unpolarized electrons in a liquid hydrogen target. The
asymmetry, for which a precise prediction exists in the Standard Model, is
sensitive to new TeV scale physics in a manner complementary to collider
experiments. Recent progress on the experiment from a low energy beam
checkout run will be discussed. Physics results from a related experiment
probing nucleon structure at Jefferson Laboratory will also presented.
