Title: Searches for WZ and ZZ Diboson Production in Final States with Leptons and Jets at CDF

Abstract:

Because diboson production is topologically similar to associated Higgs production with a W or Z boson, searches for diboson production in partially hadronic decay channels offer a chance to develop and refine new analysis techniques that may aid in the discovery of the Higgs boson. I will show recent results of a search for WZ and ZZ production at CDF, looking for events where there are at least two jets and either charged leptons, or a large transverse momentum imbalance due to neutrinos. I will also describe two new tools used in these searches to enhance our sensitivity to the hadronic decays of the bosons: an artificial-neural-network (ANN) based b-jet tagger, and an ANN based quark/gluon discriminant.
