Title: High Field Magnet Development and Prospects for an Energy Upgrade of the LHC

Abstract:

With the first round of data taking on the LHC now complete, there is increasing discussion of an energy upgrade. The viability of such a proposal is largely due to advances in materials and magnet technology developed at LBNL. This talk will give an overview of the current status of the technology and potential options with an outline of the remaining technical issues and the required R&D.
