In addition I can definitely say that I only need a hotel room for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday evenings. I'm not sure why you didn't receive the first mail. Please, respond to this mail so that I know you've received it. - sincerely - Matt Herndon ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Thu, 11 Jun 1998 09:24:38 -0400 (EDT) From: Matt Herndon To: MARY KIHANYA Subject: Re: Invitation to Give a Seminar Dear Mary Kihanya, Thank you for the information you sent me. Here are the answers to the questions you asked. Flight information: Arrive Fri June 19 11:58 AM United Flight 1733Q Oakland Terminal 1 Depart Wed June 24 06:15 Am United Flight 1097Q Oakland Terminal 1 Fare $374.00 If you want I can fax the ticket information to you, if that will help with the reimbursement. Also, I am a US citizen. Ground Transport I would appreciate ground transport to and from the University. Lodging My brother lives in the Bay area and I hope to stay with him over the weekend. Perhaps, you could wait one day before booking lodging while I contact him. However, I will definitely need a room near the university for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday evenings. Seminar Study of B_c Meson with the OPAL Detector at LEP A search for decays of the $B_c$ meson was performed using data collected from 1990--1995 with the OPAL detector on or near the $Z^0$ peak at LEP. The decay channels $B_c^+\rightarrow J/\psi\pi^+$, $B_c^+\rightarrow J/\psi a_1^+$ and $B_c^+\rightarrow J/\psi\ell^+\nu$ were investigated, where $\ell$ denotes an electron or a muon. Two candidates are observed in the mode $B_c^+\rightarrow J/\psi\pi^+$, with an estimated background of $(0.63\pm 0.20)$ events. The weighted mean of the masses of the two candidates is $(6.32\pm 0.06)$~$GeV/c^2$, which is consistent with the predicted mass of the $B_c$ meson. One candidate event is observed in the mode $B_c^+\rightarrow J/\psi\ell^+\nu$, with an estimated background of $(0.82\pm 0.19)$ events. No candidate events are observed in the $B_c^+\rightarrow J/\psi a_1^+$ decay mode, with an estimated background of $(1.10\pm 0.22)$ events. Upper bounds at the 90\% confidence level are set on the production rates for these processes. - sincerely - Matt Herndon On Wed, 10 Jun 1998, MARY KIHANYA wrote: > Dear Dr. Herndon: > > The Physics Division at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory would like > to invite you to present a seminar on Tuesday, June 23, 1998 at 4:00 PM. > > During your visit to Berkeley, we can provide you with secretarial > assistance, access to our computer facilities and a desk. > > LBNL will contribute $400 towards your domestic air fare, in addition to > lodging for 4 nights, ground transportation to and from the airport, and > daily expenses ($46 per day) for 3 days.
