Title: Observation of a New Particle in the Search for the Standard ModelHiggs Boson Decaying to Diphoton with the ATLAS Detector"

Abstract:

The discovery of a “Higgs-like” new particle with a mass of about 126 GeV by the ATLAS and CMS experiments at the CERN Large Hadron Collider is the most important progress in particle physics in recent years. I will present the details on the observation of the new particle in the diphoton channel from ATLAS and discuss its interesting implications. In addition, I will address some common misunderstandings on the interpretation of the results and give a brief outlook on the upcoming ATLAS update of the observation.
