Subject: Re: seminar at LBL Date: Thu, 19 Mar 1998 11:49:21 -0800 From: Craig Sangster To: K_Luk@lbl.gov, mkihanya@lbl.gov Hi Kam-Biu - My apologies for getting this to you late. Please let me know the particulars of the talk next week. See you then - Craig Inertial Confinement Fusion at LLNL: On the Road to Inertial Fusion Energy Abstract The construction the the National Ignition Facility at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory is a major step toward realizing practical inertial fusion energy (IFE). However, it is by no means the first step nor will it be the last. During this talk, we will take a step back from the NIF to provide an overview of inertial confinement fusion and the program as it exists presently on the NOVA laser. We will also discuss the implications of the Fast Ignition concept for IFE and some of the recent experiments conducted at LLNL on the Petawatt laser. Finally, we will also take a step ahead of the NIF and discuss what may come next on the road to inertial fusion energy. >Hello Craig, > Would you please send me and our secretary, Mary Kihanya, the title >and the abstract of your talk by this Wednesday so that we can properly >announce your seminar in advance? > Thank you and best regards, > > Kam-Biu > >p.s.
