Subject: Seminar on April 23 Date: Mon, 23 Mar 1998 14:02:19 -0500 From: "YANNIS SEMERTZIDIS, BNL 510A, UPTON, NY 11973, TEL (516)344-3881, FAX: 5568" To: MKIHANYA@lbl.gov CC: MOROI@OBELIX.lbl.gov, YANNIS@bnlarm.bnl.gov Dear Ms Kihayna, I am scheduled to give a particle physics seminar at LBL on April 23 invited by Prof Moroi. I can fly in on April 22 anytime from JFK or LaGuardia airport of NY. I will stay at Berkeley only one night on the 22 and leave on the 23 after the talk (if possible). If it is difficult to fly back the same day, I will stay one extra day. Following is the complete form with title and abstract of the talk. Thank you, Yannis Semertzidis ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Name of the speaker : Yannis Semertzidis Date of staying : 22 April Home institution : Brookhaven National Lab Phone number : (516)344-3881 Email : YANNIS@bnlarm.bnl.gov Title of talk : First Results from the BNL Muon g-2 Experiment Abstract : The Brookhaven muon g-2 experiment had its first run with pion injection during the months of May, June, and July of 1997. The major components of the experiment, the superferric storage ring, superconducting inflector magnet, pion/muon beam line, pulsed electrostatic quadrupoles, magnetic field measuring system, detector calorimeters, data acquisition system, and the traceback system were commissioned. The expected relative accuracy in the ${\rm (g - 2)_{\mu}}$ of the 1997 data is of the order of the CERN experiment running with positive muons of $\pm 10$ppm. The analysis is in progress and the first results will be presented. Citizenship : Greek VISA status (non-US citizen) : Permanent resident Need parking permit? : No Date of talk : April 23
